My name which was printed on an A4 sheet of paper was easy to see among the taxi drivers awaiting passengers off the incoming flights in Ataturk airport. This gave me immediate confidence in the service. After a short wait we were brought to our taxi and brought to our destination. The taxi was on time for our return transfer to the airport. No quibbles. Great service.
Great service

Amazing service by Safe Airport Transfer at Istanbul

We visited Istanbul from October 29 to November 01, 2017. We had a worry about hiring Taxi from and to Istanbul Airport. I searched online and got to know about"Safe Airport Transfer" Company at Istanbul Airport. I booked for pick-up and drop-off services at their site, where no prepayment was required. The provided us excellent services by taking up to our hotel on arrival day and dropped us on departure date. Their drivers are excellent and supportive. I'd love to give them a rating 5 out of 5. Basilica Cistern (Yerebatan Sarnıcı)

Basilica Cistern (Yerebatan Sarnıcı)

The below ground structure is the result of Emperor Justinian's impetus. It was build in 532 and is the largest cistern surviving in İstanbul. The construction relied on 336 columns salvaged from other locations such as ruined temples. Many of the columns have elaborate carved capitals. The Cistern is noted for its symmetry, as well as the scope of its concept. On hot summer days, the grandeur of the depths are a welcome retreat location.

The Basilica Cistern label is due to the location beneath the Stoa Basilica. The First Hill location was intended to supply the needs of the Great Palace and nearby buildings. The Cistern could hold as much as 80,000 cubic metres of water coming through 20 kilometres of aquaducts. The reservoir was near the Black Sea. The cistern was closed when the emperors of Byzantium moved their domicile from the Great Palace. The authorities of the City forgot about the structure and it was not rediscovered until 1545. Scholar Petrus Gylliuswas informed by locals that they could get water and even fish by lowering containers into a dark area beneath their basements. This captured the interest of the scholar who was able to access the cistern through a basement. The Ottomans called the cistern “ Yerebatan Saray” and unfortunately used it as a dumping ground.

In 1985, the  İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality took on the task of cleaning and renovating the cistern. The public was given access in 1987 and it has become a highly popular attraction for tourists. You can walk along raised wooden platforms and experience the dripping of water from the vaulted ceilings above. There are pale carp to be seen in the water.
